At Tiger Tops Elephant Camp we are designing a new program together with Carol Buckley, founder of Elephant Aid International. We would like our guests to have the most natural elephant experience. This will be a more observational experience than we have offered in the past. Here are a few reasons why our new program is the best way to experience elephants:
The best way to experience the elephants is by observing them – when you walk by their side, you get a different and intimate perspective on how they move and behave in nature. Walking alongside the elephants will give you an understanding of how grand these magnificent creatures are, and how quiet and graceful they move through the jungle.
Being an intimate observer while the elephant bathe themselves
When you go to the river with the elephants you will witness their carefree, uninhibited play behavior in the water. To ensure that your experience is unforgettable, the elephants will be allowed freedom to play as you stand back and observe. We promise you the most amazing photo opportunities.
Interacting with mahouts
To get a feel for what it is like to be a mahout, we invite you to spend time with our mahouts, and to engage in their daily lives. You will get the chance to help them collect grass for the elephants, learn how to make sandwiches for the elephants, and generally how the mahouts care for them.
Why the mahouts are the only people who go into the corrals
The corral is where the elephants have their ultimate personal space, and even the mahouts do not impose upon them as the goal is that the elephants totally relax, immerse themselves in their mini natural habitat and commune with their family of elephants. Feeding will always be done by the mahouts inside the corrals, as this is where the elephants are most relaxed.
